Deburring Tools
ENTGRATWERKZEUGE
Why deburring from the machine is so important
The requirements for high-precision components are constantly increasing. Product quality and functionality specifications are becoming increasingly complex, and component geometries and material combinations are becoming more and more difficult.
Your competitive advantage today therefore lies in being able to produce these components in consistently high quality without burrs.
However, deburring components is not usually one of the core competencies of a parts manufacturer. This final step is usually seen as a necessary evil that increases unit costs. Especially with today's high requirements, it is necessary to use process-reliable technologies that are optimally adapted to the diverse quality specifications when deburring. Otherwise, not only the product quality but also the economic efficiency will decrease.
Implementing deburring in the CNC machine's production process not only saves time, but also frees up resources that were previously tied up. The use of machine deburring tools almost always leads to lower unit costs in series production and at the same time to fewer quality defects or complaints from the end customer.
YOUR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES IN
MACHINE DEBURRING WITH KEMPF
CONTOUR-CONTROLLED DEBURRING TOOLS
THE CONTOUR SETS THE WAY
Deburring is performed by following the contour to be machined with the aid of an adapted NC program. A milling tool removes the burr repeatable with defined infeed and applies a chamfer. Due to the rigid path guide of the tool with NC program, the use of contour-bound tools requires workpieces with low position tolerances.
FORCE-CONTROLLED DEBURRING TOOLS
WITH POWER AGAINST ANY BURR
The deburring of force-controlled tools is based on the operating principle of a non-rigid, movably mounted cutting edge. A force is applied to the cutting edge of the tool, which results in a deflection of the blade/cutting edge. As a result, the deburring cutting edge engages with the burr-contaminated edge, removes the burr and creates a chamfer.
HANDHELD DEBURRING TOOLS
DEBURRING COMPONENTS MANUALLY
#burrfree components straight out of the machine are our goal. But there are exceptions that justify manual deburring. Handheld deburring tools are used for the smallest batch sizes, single-part production or when machine-side restrictions make deburring on the machine impossible.
BURR MINIMAL DRILLING
MINIMIZE BURRS DURING PRE-MACHINING
The fewer burrs there are during pre-machining, the easier it is to remove them during the deburring process. With the "KEMPF ExBurrDrill", you can produce bores with minimal burrs without compromising on the feed rate. Under certain circumstances, this can make a downstream deburring process completely superfluous or at least significantly simplify it - while increasing the service life of the deburring tool.
WHICH MATERIALS ARE OUR DEBURRING TOOLS SUITABLE FOR?
Burrs occur during any machining of workpieces. Our burring tools are suitable for almost all materials.
It is irrelevant whether you want to deburr metal, whether you are deburring stainless steel or deburr aluminum (e.g. also in the form of sheet metal). We are also happy to offer you a suitable solution for deburring cast parts or to deburr plastic.
However, KEMPF has the largest portfolio on the market for metal deburring.
With our many years of experience in metal cutting, we can offer you a suitable standard tool or special tool for any deburring application with a short delivery time.

CERAMIC FIBER DEBURRING TOOLS
TOOLS MADE FROM HIGH-PERFOMANCE CERAMICS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
Deburring is based on a rotary movement of a ceramic grinding tool, whereby the feed and infeed movement can take place either on the tool side or on the workpiece side. The ceramic fiber bristles of the brush machine the workpiece surface and grind off the projecting burr on the workpiece.

KEMPF DEBURRING TOOLS IN PRACTICE:
APPLICATION EXAMPLES
You can see how surprisingly easy it is to deburr your workpieces directly on the machine in our practical examples. Clamped, run off, finished. You can remove perfectly deburred components of consistently high quality in just a few seconds. This saves you valuable process time and resources and enables you to deburr safely and economically.
MECHANICAL DEBURRING OF A CASTING CONTOUR
Component: Aluminum component for an extruder machine
Tool: ibex deburring system
In this example, manual deburring was replaced by the ibex deburring system. This system, consisting of the ibex compensation holder and the special ibex milling cutter, can compensate for the high dimensional fluctuations of this undefined contour in the push and pull direction by up to 10 mm and thus promises consistent chamfering and deburring results.
COMPLETE MECHANICAL DEBURRING
Component: Actuator housing made of magnesium
Tool: Back-Burr Cutter & Path deburring system and ceramic fiber brush
The component, which is produced in large series (200,000 units per year), was to be completely deburred by machine. The complex inner contour could only be processed reliably with the Back-Burr Cutter & Path deburring system, as the ball cutter traverses the contour to be deburred parallel to the contour thanks to the individually created NC data set and thus deburrs effectively. The ceramic fiber surface brush takes over the deburring on the back of the component. The 40 mm diameter brush moves along the entire edge of the component in just a few seconds and deburrs it completely.
DEBURRING OF A SEMI-CIRCULAR CONTOUR WITHOUT SECONDARY BURRS
Component: Aluminum
Tool: Burrless Chamfering Cutter
After pre-milling the component with a PCD milling cutter, a slight flitter burr appeared on the defined contour. This contour was then deburred with the Burrless Chamfering Cutter type 06N. The patented cutting edges effortlessly remove the remaining burr, resulting in a clean "edge" with a defined chamfer - without a secondary burr.
DEBURRING OF CROSS HOLES
Component: Hydraulic component made of 11SMn30+C steel
Tool: HSD "High Speed Deburring" deburring tool
For quality reasons, even hydraulic components produced in small batches should be completely deburred by machine. The HSD tool is designed in such a way that the cutting edges are folded in without pressure impact from the cooling medium and only fold out when pressure is applied at the desired point and the burr is removed "percussively". Depending on the material, even large burrs with burr root thicknesses of over 0.2 mm with adhering burr flags or drill caps can be removed reliably. Despite different bore diameters, a single HSD tool with a diameter of 11.30 mm can also be used to deburr the resulting cross bores in other components. For bore diameters larger than the standardized 1/4 inch dimension, the area to be deburred is traversed with a circular helical movement using the same HSD tool and the burr is then also removed reliably.
